Dr. Motte meets Gabriel Le Mar

During his studies in Berlin in summer 1990 Gabriel heard about a street demo called Loveparade and joined this crazy gathering dancing in the streets... Everything in our existence was the music ...

Years later he met Motte, originator and inventor of the love parade, and they took the decision to meet in studio for jams in Frankfurt at Gab's Lab, where they celebrated a creative clash that is manifested in their tracks.

The result is a trip on the dance floor with deep, floating grooves and predominantly 4-2-4 beats on the first four tracks, while the last three become an after hours party filled with deep beatless grooves with a dubby mood.

At the beginning, Dr. Motte introduced Gabriel Le Mar to another special method of producing music, using a tonal scale that is based on the frequencies of the "rotating planets" from our "solar system", because the rotation of the planets differ from each other along with gravitational principles.

What they did was tuning their complete musical equipment for each track on a special tuning of one planet. Each general tuning of one track on the album is determined by the corresponding "planetar frequency" of a planet of our solar system - the earth´s tuning is f.e. the "tone g" (435,92 Hertz).

Radical Chill Out

Radical Chill Out is an open project of the artist collective RCO initiated by Dr. Motte and Gabriel Le Mar.

The RCO sound production concept of this debut is based on a special selection of public domain sounds, which in an experimental manner are core elements of the tracks that invite us into an electronic listening sound journey.

The first three tracks in the initial phase of the album flow meditavely into ambient spheres and bring weightlessness and deceleration, while the other tracks are more condensed organically and inspired by grooves.

The tracks surprise with downbeat and mid tempo grooves and cut-up techniques. The Swiss mathematician and musicologist Hans Cousto is heard in "The Rise" and in „The Fall“. Hans wrote books about the cosmic octave, which compares all the vibrations in space with each other. This gave rise to the possibility to map planetary rotations and molecular vibrations to octave-analoglous tones and rhythms. He applied the law of the octave beyond the rhythm range to all ranges of vibrations and gives deeper insights into our music made on earth.

Cult author, psychonaut and scientist Terence McKenna is heard on „cutnotree-mix 1“.

With their perfect mix of eclectic sample manipulations and a sense of musical excitement, Dr. Motte and Gabriel Le Mar are with „Radical Chill Out“ on the electronic pulse of our time and create their own soundtrack to this movie.

"When i met Motte in the studio for our first session he actually introduced me to planetary tuning/the science behind it, and when we started jamming he proposed to choose a "special tuning" for the track which he gave me in form of a pdf-file with various listings of how you can tune into these frequencies via sound or colour f.e., according to every measured planet`s special wavelength...

Then we tuned basically all used sounds according to the "wavelength information" we got from the list...which is easy when you use synths that can be tuned exactly...we did not use that method for the drum and percussion and finally we use rather our ears than our minds.

And finally, yes, it is of course also a story, cause you need to tell something that comes along with the music and at the same time is real (ity) and no bla-bla... Motte and i felt more like sound artists impact from the interaction between the sounds and when you see it works, it’s amazing. In our music we have always been concerned with our own musical-artistic level, with a translation into the Here and Now."

Fever

Everyone knows of course that the main driving force behind the label PRAXXIZ is one of Germanys earliest Techno supporters, innovators and ultimately icons Dr. Motte. Maybe Fever are aware of his love of and involvement with the various genres of Electronic Music.

So it will come as no surprise that the newest release on Dr. Motte's PRAXXIZ, a collaboration between himself and Gabriel Le Mar expertly brings together elements of both ends of the Techno/Electronica spectrum, lovingly creating a fusion that may well be the strongest release yet on PRAXXIZ. Their track Zikade appears on the new Dr. Motte - "Monstermix Vol. 2" Compilation in June 2015.

Dr. Motte meets Gabriel Le Mar - Puttin' On The Green Hat

Children of their time "Dr. Motte" and "Gabriel Le Mar" started in the early 80`s mixing electronic music, focussing on the pure aspects of dance. Still following that path that led them together searching for the "soul in the machines", the music lovers are playing with the various settings inside their electronic devices to get the sound and atmosphere they were after for.

Puttin' OnThe Green Hat draws its energy from the deepest suspense of earthy bass drums, playing and twirling effortless tech-house rhythm. Hypnotic spoken-word from Mantombe Matotiyani (Amampondo) leads with a headstrong, bewildering vocal, like the singing of a shaman through a deep trance. A track like the heat dancing on the horizon in the heart of Africa. Pure life energy conducted through every single tone and united like a magical formula of music and dance.

The green hat is a part of a creative technique from Edward de Bono, known as the "Thinking Hat" or also "6 Thinking Hats". Every hat has a different color and has a different meaning:

The red hat - emotional thinking
The black hat - critical thinking
The yellow hat - optimistic thinking
The white hat - analytical thinking
The blue hat - ordered, moderated thinking
The green hat - creative thinking

The aim is the solution of a task from every point of view and thereby reaching the best possible result. The green hat as a "symbol of creativity and ideas" is mirrored in the remix-concept. For the first three, the venerable master of electronic dance music has consciously brought together artists with different styles and influences.

The beginning is brought to you by his Italian associate Nihil Young who has released a number of EP's and albums on his label Frequenza Records among which are "Rave - O - Lution" with Alex D'elia. In late summer the release of Thomas Lizzara's (Ostfunk Rec.Berlin) version along with Ingo Boss (Cocoon Recordings). Added to that there is in September the POTGH remix contest, whereby 2 further versions will complete the "6-piece collection".

Deep and floating grooves tuned to planetary frequencies

Children of their time "Dr. Motte" and "Gabriel Le Mar" started in the early 80`s mixing electronic music, focussing on pure aspects of dance.

Their music consisted of annoying synthesizer sounds accompanied with a drum computer, based on the same basic idea that the beats were all techno.

For both the questions arouse, how to use "digital technology" as driving force of the future of electronic music and to involve some magic sounds.

Lives filled with music two decades later Motte and Gabriel still following that path that led them together searching for the soul in the machines.

Music played by touch and interacting electronically is their confession of producing still today.
